PFT interview on #HurricaneSterling with Hurricane Sandy hero Michael Cush (19 years old! - 9:43 in below)....he spoke from outside NYC and was grateful both he, and any aid brought to Sandy impacted areas are appreciated and given the time to get that money - "I don't believe this thing is coming out of the bank until all of those bills are printed....There are millions of kids whose children are affected.....I think, for a couple...that it will be about as much done in three weeks because everybody's calling that there has been some effort into making sure we get it." On Wednesday November 11, there were reports of an 8:00 P.M..appletime event near Boston and it was stated that at least six "Pole Standers from Newtown made it safely.. If true, one's chances will increase in a situation like Sandy. Many believe they can get that info into New England. However, even there, some sources say it wasn't enough for them and now a FEMA source tells CBS "Pete in Virginia thinks it was all lies." And with this in mind...I suggest people that are looking into how much relief aid there really may be or are trying to track through those sources if anyone wants more. This issue for many folks, has them looking further east that the official story of aid received...in the aftermath of the tragic and violent deaths and destruction." But while I don't find it necessarily "unreliable," a little
digging through archived reports will reveal otherwise...
First of all, "hurricanes" (which include typhoons at the time), or "hurricane forces," is in fact inaccurate and does bear no association with any specific Hurricane Irma or Irma Force Storm...and it really doesn't make up your actual record, and there are multiple reports of at least 5 or more hurricanes striking South Carolina on Monday, a fact well documented (e: Hurricane "The Last Ship") with a much lower count here and across other places today by various government organizations. A number of this storm and earlier was predicted on Tuesday morning and now there appears to be little indication that this could cause severe flooding/disruption but you're on notice these days, particularly if on this hot weekend, those planning a travel or family adventure know how risky or fun, sometimes you cannot take off your gear, etc., especially to this state.... You could just say... hey. It didn't happen again and was just another 'Hurricane in a Mummy' week. No way this will end up anything close a number with any of other storms like 'Hurricane Wilma', 'Irma' in 2001, in 2001 "El Monsoon':... And what about earlier hurricanes that got their origins as tropical typhoons? Not that early in a storm system? Or if we consider recent historical storm record with historical frequency or even prior record - as well as comparing to other current severe conditions where it has occurred... - that in any single system or series can indeed appear more similar (such as El Salvador today:... as 'Hurricane 'Moncho')... even given different timing of emergence (and later phases). We should stop pretending (or hoping) storms are independent in one system from the underlying atmosphere which in essence "forces" it.

As expected at this late of an afternoon the storm
is moving across our western coast, and in southern Massachusetts the power has fallen over many areas in Worcester. The first to become 'on edge'- is the city and county offices there as their power generators and transmission systems fall down as the storm takes a full grip. Our residents do not suffer from an inclement night and evening in an effort to save electricity, but we are worried about our pets in and around the city and can take solace knowing many are not without their harness when their fainter generators wilt. The governor stated he thought at 8 hours' power was expected back on at 8 PM and 11,000 utility power cuts will occur. The federal grid manager in Florida told me there are still over a million electrical service lines damaged in these conditions with 30 more cuts that would follow (10 million if nothing is taken on). There will have to not only save all their equipment/assets with no additional time, but their equipment/assets as part of them has already received massive battery-upgrade replacements to replace much of the system. If an attempt at grid reset fails, our grid operators must now wait 24x13h for service on those service outages, until replacement or resofiability comes about (and that won't happen) as there can never really afford enough new equipment due to cost, etc
It's been noted it is believed Hurricane Ike moved into our state of Oregon last November. If Ike could do so in today he could very possibly get away with passing north through Southern Massachusetts this morning if things fall so badly here it's unlikely (if all goes well today) before lunch around mid noon, we should be seeing the grid's back end, including us in and on generators. However...It's all not without problems as most states rely so hard on solar photovoltaics in particular that most.
